The whole day was filled with the following task:
- Prepare Billing for the Sub-contractor of Water-Proofing. This week was the starting week of the sub-contractor of water-proofing. There work is to apply water-proofing materials on the floor of the toilet and bathroom, gutter and all those which needs to water-proofed in the three buildings. With the saved format in the computer, I just edited some few details which includes the name of the sub-contractor, the name of the Project and some few more details. I then inputed the necessary data, the scope of work with respective percentage of the total accomplishment, the percentage accomplished this week, the respective amount of each accomplishment and the total amount billed. This will be signed by the Project Architect assigned.
During the Afternoon, I decided to have an inspection on building 2 to observe the accomplishments made. There were still rooms incompletely plastered. Concrete Hollow Blocks piling were complete though.

- Estimate Grooving Linear Meter for Building 1, 2 and 3. An additional work was requested by the CDU Group to the Senior Project Engineer was the linear grooving of the three buildings. The Senior Project Engineer instructed me to estimate the linear meter of the grooving for the three buildings. The part which will be grooved were the facade of the three buildings which will not be placed with sun buffles. I tried to look for Engr. Incorporado, the architectural designer of the buildings so that I will have the idea as to what are the specifications of the groove particularly the distance and the particular walls to be grooved. However, since I was not able to see him, I did an educated estimate of 1m gap which fortunately was agreed by the Senior Project Manager. I came to a result of more or less three thousand linear meter of grooving for the three buildings.
- Actual Accomplishment Report on Laying of Trusses. I was tasked to have an ocular inspection on the number of trusses laid. I shaded the part in the layout where trusses were laid and made a report on the accomplishment.
- CHB Piling Update. I had another inspection to have an update of the piling of Concrete Hollow Blocks. I shaded the additional part in the layout which has been piled already.

A meeting, headed by the Senior Project Manager, was held. One of the discussed topic was on the follow up of the rooms I am supposed to turn over everyday. The CDU Group was pressuring us to hand over rooms in building 3 particularly do that there will be enough space for the tiles. the tiles were scheduled to be delivered by this week and the CDU Group needs at least 10 rooms in building 3, ground floor. The Senior Project Manager also emphasized that the next target building will be the building 2 since they will be scheduling to begin the tiling and painting works by third week of May. i reported that the masonry workers were told to first accomplished everything in building 3. The general foreman in building 2 and 3 also reported that he needs more days to finish the first level of the two buildings. During confrontation with the Senior Project Manager, the General Foreman said he would finish the first level of building 2 by May 11, 2008 (Sunday).
We visited the Robinland Project to observe the building’s foundation. A footing has been poured with concrete already. The workers were starting to erect the tower crane for the project. There were still piles not cut and there were more excavation to be done. The Project Manager decided to gradually do the excavation since there were structures adjacent on both sides.

These are the tasks which filled our day:
- Inspection on Building 2, Ground Floor for Room Turnovers. I prepared a checklist for the room turnovers which will be the basis of my report on the accomplishments and lacking as per room prior to the mandate of turning over at least three rooms per day. I had an ocular inspection during the morning and the afternoon observing the speed of their work and realized that there were not enough workers assigned in building 2, ground floor. This was because most of the people were still working and also meeting the deadlines in building 3, ground floor. At the end of the day, I made a report and basing on what has been accomplished per room, I provided an percentage of accomplishment. Most of the rooms have accomplished 60% of the needed work. However, there were still which was on 30% achieved. All the rooms were not yet bored with holes for the soap and tissue holder. Most rooms also need further finishing of the door and window jambs. There were few rooms left not plastered. It was very hard to turnover even a single room.
- Orientation of the S-Curve. The Cadet Engineer oriented me with the documentation process of the project which involved the S-Curve of the project. The success of the project somehow depends on the S-Curve. An S-Curve determines whether the project is advance or delayed through the comparison of the theoretical accomplishment and the actual accomplishment. The graph also depicts the variance in percentage and in days.

The whole day was filled with much enthusiasm and pressure in the site. Most of us were busy preparing for the topping off which will be held on the slab of the water tank in the fourth level between building 1 and building 2. During the morning, my classmate and I were tasked to prepare for the way where the CDU Group and all the people involved in the topping off will pass through by placing caution tape along the way. We also made a welcome sign for the visitors.
The topping of started nearly 2:00 pm which consisted of Dr. Potenciano V. Larrazabal Jr., President of Cebu Doctor’s University, Engr. Rey Incorporado, the one who design the architectural of Cebu Doctor’s University Dormitory, Engr. Dennis Labus and Engr. Ebenzer Requioma, Engineers representing th CDU Group, Archt. Manuel Ambos Jr, the Senior Project Manager of the CDU Dormitory Project and Ryan Poncardas, Cadet Engineer of the said project. We took the pictures of the event for documentation purposes. Late lunch followed after. Although minor problems were encountered which caused the delay of the topping off, the event was a success.
